About Detroit Behavioral Institute & Capstone Academy
Detroit Behavioral Institute | Capstone Academy is a 110-bed residential facility located in Midtown Detroit. Our adolescent treatment programs treat young people with mental health and co-occurring disorders. Our programs for adjudicated youths or youths who have committed criminal acts are for clients who are required to undergo psychiatric treatment and referred by a court or family service agency. Additionally, we offer programming for non-adjudicated youths, including those who are involved with the child welfare system and are under the supervision of the Department of Human Services.
Our treatment programs use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) as the main core of our therapeutic services. Other evidence-based practices we use, as appropriate, include dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), behavior modification, play therapy, and the family system. All therapists are trained in the Child and Adolescent Functional Assessment Scale (CAFAS).
