Louisiana Recovery Rally for Treatment
Hundreds of individuals addicted to alcohol and other drugs rallied
at the steps of the Louisiana State Capitol to illustrate the importance
of treatment and prevention services, the Baton Rouge Advocate reported
April 24.
Hope Networks, a statewide drug prevention group, organized an
event that featured participants walking in lime green shirts displaying
the words "I'm in Recovery" or "Support Recovery."
Samantha-Hope Atkins, a recovering alcoholic who founded Hope Networks,
said the rally was organized after the group learned that there
were only 32 alcohol detox beds in the state.
