Funding Available to Enhance Prevention Programs
July 15 is the deadline for states to apply for grants that can
be used to improve management of drug- and violence-prevention programs.
The Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities National Programs
will reward a total of $5 million in grants. The funding can be
used to support development and testing of strategies for developing,
expanding, or enhancing the capacity of state and local educational
agencies -- and other state agencies and community-based organizations
-- to collect, analyze, and use data to improve the quality of drug
and violence prevention programs administered in their state.
State educational agencies or other state agencies that currently
administer the Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act (SDFSCA)
State Grants program are eligible to apply for the funding.
