Yankees Manager's Foundation Addresses Domestic Violence
New York Yankees manager Joe Torre has established a foundation
that provides funding for educational efforts to break the cycle
of domestic violence, the Criminal Justice Funding Report reported
Dec. 3.
The Joe Torre Safe at Home Foundation was established in memory
of the manager's mother, Margaret, who was abused by Torre's father.
The foundation, a partnership with Samsung Electronics' Four Seasons
of Hope initiative, plans to create an educational campaign to help
individuals trapped in abusive homes. In particular, the foundation's
efforts will focus on the effects of domestic violence on children.
