CEATTC & APRA Sponsors Second Annual DC
Summer Institute
Silver Spring, MD - The Central East Addiction Technology Transfer
Center (CEATTC), in conjunction with the Addiction Prevention and
Recovery Administration (APRA) of the Washington DC. Department
of Health is proud to sponsor the Second Annual DC Summer Institute
at the Gallaudet University Kellogg Conference Center on July 18-21,
2004. The DC Summer Institute will bring together substance abuse
practitioners from many systems and modalities to learn, network
and develop strategies that will enhance their ability to work with
clients. In keeping with a major goal of the Substance Abuse and
Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the DC Summer Institute
will help bridge the gap between science and service by bringing
evidenced-based practices and the latest research to front-line
practitioners.
Special Featured Events include:
Reception on Sunday evening, July 18 with a jazz trio.
Evening courses are offered both Monday, July 19 and Tuesday, July
20.
Evening stress reduction session with acupuncture offered both Monday,
July 19 and Tuesday, July 20, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
A 12-Step meeting will be onsite both Monday evening, July 19 and
Tuesday evening, July 20 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
A Graduation Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, July 21 at the
end of the Institute.
Three Pre-Institute courses are scheduled for Sunday, July 18. The
first course is on confidentiality and ethics. This course will
be conducted by, the Caribbean Basin and Hispanic ATTC (CBHATTC)
in Spanish for treatment professionals dealing with Latino clients.
The second course is on drug use and violence prevention for people
working with youth in crisis. The third course is an ethics course
open to all practitioners working with substance abuse clients.
By attending the DC Summer Institute, a student can earn up to
32 Continuing Education Credits hours if a Pre- Institute Course
is taken, and all available sessions are attended during the DC
Summer Institute, including lunch and evening sessions. Online registration
