Blank Foundation Changes Strategic Direction
The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation has embarked on a new strategic
direction, with more focus on programs that provide opportunities
to children and youth.
The foundation, which was established in 1995 by Arthur Blank,
co-founder of Home Depot, reached its $100-million milestone in
giving in early 2003. The Atlanta, Ga.-based foundation plans to
commit $100 million over the next five years to the new initiative.
Grants over the next five years will be awarded in two primary
areas: Fostering Opportunity, aimed at helping low-income youth
and their families overcome barriers imposed by poverty and origin;
and Enhancing Quality of Life, designed to ensure that growing communities
remain desirable places to live by protecting the environment, increasing
recreational opportunities, and fostering diverse arts and cultural
activities.
"Our family is committed to being a partner in promoting positive
change - in individual lives and in entire communities," said
founder Arthur Blank.
