A tip received on the Dads and Mad Moms Against Drug Dealers (DAMMADD) website led to the arrest and conviction of a Walton, N.Y., man on drug-possession charges, the Oneonta Daily Star reported May 26.
“This is just the tip of the iceberg,” said Steven Steiner, founder of DAMMADD. “There are more arrests to come. We are asking all the folks out there in the area to keep their eyes open.”
According to the Walton Police Department, the Delaware County Drug Enforcement Unit executed a search warrant for the home of Keith Moulaison, 21, after DAMMADD’s Operation America received a tip. The initiative offers a reward if a tip leads to a conviction.
Moulaison was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana. He pleaded guilty to both charges.
This is the second drug arrest resulting from a DAMMADD tip. An October 2001 tip led to the arrest of five people in March 2002.
According to Steiner, Operation America has received 1,376 tips to date. Of those, 46 led to arrests and 31 to convictions.
Steiner and his wife founded DAMMADD after their son died from an OxyContin-Ecstasy overdose in 2001 after partying during Super Bowl weekend.
