Between Thursday and Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend, 75 drivers were arrested in Massachusetts for allegedly operating a motor vehicle under the influence of substances, the Boston Globe reports. According to police, 71 of these drivers had been drinking, while 4 had taken narcotics. During the same weekend last year, 76 individuals were pulled over for similar offenses.
In New Hampshire, 33 individuals were stopped for driving while allegedly under the influence as well. Operation Care, a group dedicated to preventing accidents, reported that more than 3,500 cars were stopped over Thanksgiving weekend nationally. More than 1,000 drivers were stopped for speeding, while dozens of others received citations.
